Homemade Laundry Detergent
This homemade laundry detergent has lasted my family of 4 as long as 8 months. It's a very cost-effective means to save money every month.

- 1 bar Fels naptha soap bar grated
- 1 cup washing soda
- ½ cup borax
Grate the bar of soap into a large saucepan. Cover with hot water. Cook over medium to low heat, stirring gently and constantly so mixture does not bubble over and until the soap has completely dissolved. Remove from heat once done.
Put washing soda and borax into a 5 gallon bucket. Pour in hot tap water and melted soap mix. Stir well until everything is fully dissolved and combined.
Fill the bucket to the top with more hot tap water and stir.
Cover securely and let it set overnight before using. Label this mixture as "Concentrate".
The next day, stir your concentrate. Into a smaller laundry detergent dispenser, mix well equal portions of concentrate and water. Shake before each use.
For top load laundry machines, use 1 cup of detergent.
For front load laundry machines, use ⅓ cup of detergent.
This recipe will make a total of 10 gallons of laundry detergent.
