Being a native California girl (more specifically the Bay Area of Northern California), my first loves are the ocean and the great outdoors from which I pull a lot of inspiration. I also love trying out new things.
Why I do what I do?
Besides the outdoors, life has been a great inspiration. Cheesy, I know! But after being married for almost a decade, life brought about new questions. What does it mean to be a stay at home mom? How do we live on a single-family income? What are some healthy, budget-friendly meals that my family would enjoy? How do I entertain my kids? Needless to say, I had to get creative.
That’s why I try. I try A LOT of different things! I always have. Whether it’s a recipe, hiking trail, science, art, exercise, building, or whatever, I’ve always tried.
I started pinning Pinterest ideas, reading blogposts on how-to this or how-to that, and watching a ton of YouTube videos. And then I tried a bunch of different things.

That’s my approach with life and the essentials. I may not be great at it. Mistakes are always made. But I keep trying. And when it’s finally reached on whatever level, that feeling of success is always pretty satisfying. My kids liked what I cooked (that had veggies in it); my husband enjoyed a new (healthy…shhh) dessert; a DIY party on which everyone complimented. All the effort was worth it! And what didn’t pass? Well, I still kept trying at it, with some tweaks.
But that’s what’s so great about trying something new or different. It’s exciting to see the results! Whether or not it works.
